Japan's Hatsumono Strawberries — At What Price?
A political cartoon by Leo Motherway explores ethical issues.

This piece delineates the problem with production of Japan's hatsumono strawberries, which are produced out of season because of year-round consumer demand for the product. The berries, which have a natural growing season in spring, are brought up in greenhouses for winter production. These greenhouses are heated with incredible amounts of kerosene that, when burned, produces greenhouse gasses and a massive carbon footprint. This piece aims bring attention to the climate situation in Japan and in the world to ignite change.
